“If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write.” — Martin Luther.

“There is nothing so tragic as the untold story inside you.” — Maya Angelou.

Writing has been part of my vocation for half a century. My writing has dropped off a good bit of late — both in terms of frequency and effectiveness. Recently I’ve been giving some thought to stepping away from my chosen/appointed vocation and finding something else to do with my time. After all, I am on disability and writing does not exactly provide me a stream of income. What difference would it make if I stopped? Couldn’t I be of better use doing something else?

In lieu of just quitting, I have wandered the wilderness wasteland of Facebook. I have met many friends who have given me great support. But I have also concluded, at least for me, at least for now, writing for Facebook is a soul-sapping adventure.

I’m not saying Social Media can do no good. If Martin Luther were alive today I have no doubt his 95 Theses would have been posted on the Internet and copied in a lot of places. This world in many ways is in more need of Hope for Troubled Minds than Luther’s Day and I want to be part of the solution rather that aggravate the problem.

I have learned in my six decades on this tortured earth that many have a story to tell. Many of these are very compelling. Some are downright sacred. I have also discovered that God has fashioned me into a pretty good cultivator of stories that invigorate life — my own and others.

So what do I propose? Beginning now and in the coming weeks Delight in Disorder Ministries blog will publish 1-2 posts/week to spread hope to the inboxes of almost 1,000 subscribers and growing. Let’s make a positive change in the world by writing the truth about mental health in a Spirit of love so desperately needed these days.

Send your 1,000 word or less story to me, as editor and I promise to respond in a timely manner.
